FERN Interiors Co. is an interior design company that specializes in discovering design opportunities, developing usable spaces, and telling stories of our lives through design. We offer a variety of services for interior design. With mood boards, detailed floor plans for construction, or a full-service interior design package. We work with DIYers, builders, contractors, architects, and businesses.

Our Owner/founder- Kara (car-ah)
Kara founded Fern Interiors Co. after spending more than twenty years working in several high-profile commercial architectural and engineering firms in Minneapolis, MN. Kara has a modern, Scandinavian design aesthetic influenced by her grandfather who was a Norwegian architect. Sustainability and healthy living are near and dear to her heart. She brings a strong technical background to both remodels and new construction projects. Kara earned a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, with a minor in Art.

Our Approach
Collaboration is the core of what we do. We work in partnership with our clients to create homes and businesses that they love, through thoughtful and intentional design. We celebrate every design aesthetic - it needs to be personal for you.

Our approach is flexible and based in creativity. This work is not prescriptive. Every homeowner and business has different needs; we are open to structuring the approach in a variety of ways, to ensure we meet the specific objectives of your scope of work.

Our Experience
We bring more than two decades of experience working with diverse clients in several different home and business sectors, on a variety of project types and in varying capacities. We have learned to be very adaptable to different design scenarios. We approach design with focus on our clients’ needs and how the space will best serve them.
